Ingredients

  • ½ teaspoon aluminum free baking soda
  • 8 ounces 240 milliliters room temperature filtered water
  • Juice of half a lemon optional

Equipment

  • 8 ounce glass
  • Measuring spoon

Method

  1. Pour the filtered water into a clean glass.
  2. Add the baking soda to the water.
  3. Stir for 30 to 60 seconds until the baking soda fully dissolves.
  4. Squeeze in the lemon juice if using and stir again. Expect some fizzing.
  5. Drink right away on an empty stomach, ideally 20 to 30 minutes before a meal.

Notes

Do not exceed ½ teaspoon of baking soda per dose and limit intake to no more than three doses a day. Rinse your mouth with plain water afterward to protect tooth enamel. This drink may ease occasional indigestion or heartburn by neutralizing stomach acid, but it does not burn body fat, cure infections, or treat cancer, and it should not replace medical care or a sodium restricted diet plan. People with kidney disease, heart conditions, or high blood pressure should talk to a doctor before trying it.
