Notes

  • This drink runs about 20-25 calories and roughly 4 grams of protein per serving, with no fat, carbs, sodium, or cholesterol, and negligible vitamins or minerals.
  • Gelatin is an incomplete protein, meaning it lacks several essential amino acids the body needs, so it should never replace real meals or a complete protein source.
  • Dr. Caudle tested this recipe herself before brunch and reported feeling somewhat fuller, but she still ate her normal amount of food, and she states there is no science supporting claims that this drink burns fat.
  • Recipes vary widely online (some use pink salt, Epsom salt, apple cider vinegar, or warm vs. cold water); Dr. Caudle notes these tweaks don't change the underlying science.
  • Not suitable for anyone following a strict plant-based or vegan diet, since gelatin is an animal-derived product.
  • This is not presented as a proven or sustainable weight loss method; it's best framed as an appetite-timing experiment, not a fat-burning trick.
