Passion Fruit Margarita

This passion fruit margarita is a quick, fruity cocktail made with silver tequila, passion fruit puree, a splash of pineapple juice, Cointreau, and fresh lime juice. A sugar rim adds a sweet finish. It takes five minutes and needs no fresh passion fruit.

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 oz 45 ml silver tequila (the video uses PatrĂ³n)
  • 1.5 oz 45 ml passion fruit puree
  • 0.5 oz 15 ml pineapple juice
  • 0.5 oz 15 ml fresh lime juice
  • A few dashes of Cointreau orange liqueur
  • Sugar for the glass rim
  • Ice

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Small plate for the sugar rim
  • Cocktail glass
  • Jigger or measuring tool

Method
 

  1. Add ice to your shaker.
  2. Pour in the passion fruit puree, pineapple juice, tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice.
  3. Shake well until the drink is cold.
  4. Rim your glass with sugar.
  5. Pour the margarita into the glass.
  6. Garnish and serve right away.

Notes

  1. Store bought passion fruit puree works well for this drink. Fresh passion fruit works too if you can find it in your area.
  2. Use silver (blanco) tequila for a clean, bright flavor.
  3. Use a few dashes of Cointreau, about 1/4 oz (7 ml). Adjust to taste.
  4. To make the sugar stick, run a lime wedge around the rim before dipping the glass in sugar.
  5. Garnish with a lime wheel or any fruit you like.
  6. To make a pitcher, multiply each ingredient by the number of servings and chill it. Add ice only when you serve, so the drink does not get watered down.
